Paddle Battle

Coming to a lake near you – Paddle Battle. Fairfield Bay Marina heard your wish for something to do in the boating off season. Dust off your kayaks, canoes and standup paddleboards and find your paddles/oars. Join us Saturday, September 26 for a fun day splish splashing in the lake.

Paddle Battle is a race for kayaks, canoes and standup paddleboards. There are four age groups for each paddle craft. The race courses are 5 mile, 3 mile and 1.5 mile. The age groups start at 17 and range to 65+. Activities are planned for children 12 and under. We have something for everyone. Chow Hall BBQ will, also, be on hand with their mouthwatering barbeque. Sean Stern’s band will provide the entertainment.

Sulfur Creek Outfitters will be on hand to supply kayak rentals. Frank Wimberley, the owner, has donated a California Board Classic standup paddleboard to be raffled. Frank will have a variety of sport related products for your shopping pleasure.

If you can’t wait that long for something to do on the lake. Saturday, September 12 jump in your boat and be a part of Greers Ferry Lake Cleanup. The Lake provides us with hours of fun and along with golf brings 1,000s of visitors to our “fair” city. Let’s all pitch in and “clean it up”. You can join the fun by meeting at any of the area marinas between 7:30 am and 8 am. I know it’s early but it will be well worth your effort.

When you were a kid did you like bedtime stories or any book someone would read to you? As you got older did you take a liking to beer and bratwurst? Have I got something for you? This will take a little long range planning, but what the heck with electronic devices it should be no problem. Octoberfest, October 9 & 10 at the Fairfield Bay Conference Center. There will be German fare, dancing, storytelling, arts & crafts.

Next time you hear someone says “There’s nothing to do in Fairfield Bay” remind them of all our activities.
