FAIRIFELD BAY COMMUNITY CLUB

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

October 23, 2018

 

A regular meeting of the Fairfield Bay Community Club Board of Directors was held on Tuesday, October 23, 2018, at 3:00 p.m. in the Fireside Room at the Indian Hills Complex.

Directors attending; President Dave Foster, Bill Fisher, Doug Forsman, Nancy Mueller, Rose Shurts, Jack Weeks, and Tom Welch.

Rocky Nickles, General Manager, and Martha McDoniel, Chief Financial Officer, were also in attendance.

President Foster called the meeting to order and led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance. A prayer was given by President Foster.

There were eight managers and four guests in attendance.

18-98 Motion was made by Doug Forsman, seconded by Rose Shurts, and unanimously carried to accept the regular meeting minutes of September 25, 2018, as presented.

Martha McDoniel, Chief Financial Officer, gave the financial report.

The manager reports were given.

There were no contacts by owners to any board member.

Nancy Mueller and Rose Shurts left the meeting.

Dave Foster reported Team 2035 met with Stan Berry, Arkansas State Representative, for our district.  The Team is continuing work on the wet/dry issue, especially in Cleburne County. It is expected the issue will be placed on the 2020 ballot in Cleburne County. Representative Berry agreed to help at the State level. The team is also discussing how they can help the Club with the shared use of the Lion’s Club which will begin in January 2019.

No one was present from the Community Fund. President Foster stated he and Rocky Nickles will be attending a reception with the Community Fund this evening. The Community Fund is continuing their campaign “Keep 5 in the Bay”, which encourages residents to consider leaving 5% of their estate to the Community Fund.

The 2019 budgets are completed and will be reviewed by the Board on October 30, 2018.

Rocky Nickles reported the cost to repair the storm damage at Lynn Creek Crossing will be $430,000.The 35% emergency match was awarded and the 50/50 match was approved. The City is obtaining low interest financing of approximately $250,000 to complete the repairs.

18-99 Rocky Nickles reported the fiber optic loop to be completed by Skyfinet will provide high speed to all Club businesses investment. They are requesting the Club pay $25,000 up front.  The recurring cost will be $900.00 more per month than we are paying now. There will be two channels for use in the Wyndham rooms.   Motion was made by Tom Welch, seconded by Jack Weeks, and unanimously carried to authorize Rocky Nickles to go forward with Skyfinet.

18-100 Motion was made by Doug Forsman, seconded by Bill Fisher, and unanimously carried to approve a capital expenditure in the amount of $73,236 for gas dock reconfiguration at the Marina.  The project will be completed this year. Previously $48,000 was approved in the 2018 budget, an additional $25,236 was needed to complete the project.

Tom Welch said the economy is strong and salaries are going up. The Club needs to find ways to create more revenue. The Club is having problems finding qualified staff now and must have the ability to pay better salaries in coming years.

The November and December meetings will be combined due to the holidays. The executive and regular meetings will be held on Tuesday, December 4, 2018. The meeting times will be: 8:30 a.m. for the executive meeting and 10:00 a.m. for the regular meeting. The Town Hall meeting will be held at 3:00 p.m. in the Conference Center Theater.

18-101 There being no further business to bring before the Board, a motion was made to adjourn by Bill Fisher, seconded by Jack Weeks, and unanimously carried.
