Board of Directors Regular Meeting Minutes March 28, 2017




The Regular Meeting of the Fairfield Bay Community Club was held on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. in the Fireside Room at the Indian Hills Complex.

Directors in attendance; President Jack Weeks, Bill Fisher, Dave Foster, Terri Hargrove, Lacey Mitchell, Rose Shurts, and Ken Schuette.

Rocky Nickles, General Manager, and Tommy Hoffman, Chief Financial Officer were also in attendance.

The Pledge of Allegiance and Prayer was led by President Weeks.

There were nine managers and two guests in attendance.

17-28 Motion was made by Rose Shurts, seconded by Terri Hargrove, and unanimously carried to accept the Regular Meeting minutes of February 28, 2017, as presented.

The Financial Report was given by Tommy Hoffman, Chief Financial Officer.

17-29 After discussion concerning the bowling alley, a motion was made by Bill Fisher, seconded by Rose Shurts, and unanimously carried to close the bowling alley as of May 7, 2017. The Club will retain possession of the area until October, 2017.

Lacey Mitchell reported the Idea Incubator Team is working with the Marina trying to get more vendors for Surf the Bay. The Team feels we have enough signature events and wants to work to improve the ones we have. She and John Conry plan to go to Mt. View to the Folk Festival in April. Mt. View attracts a very large number of vendors and they want to see if they can get some of them to come to the Bay.

Team 2035 reported they are working on a plan for Tiny Homes, but or not ready to make a recommendation. A site is already up and running in Ft. Smith.

There was nothing to update on the Community Foundation.

No action will be taken on the Archery Range until notification is received regarding the grant.

17-30 Motion was made by Bill Fisher, seconded by Rose Shurts, and unanimously carried, to explore a temporary solution at the tennis courts for two pickle ball courts.

17-31 Motion was made by Dave Foster, seconded by Bill Fisher, and unanimously carried to make a correction to the Regular Minutes of January 24, 2017. Page 1, next to last paragraph should read Fairfield Bay Community Foundation not Fairfield Bay Community Club Foundation.

17-32 Motion was made by Bill Fisher, seconded by Dave Foster, and unanimously carried to approve a Capital Expenditure for the Recreation Department in the amount of $7800, including taxes, to replace the roof on the Recreation Office and the bathhouse at Bay View Club Pool, due to storm damage.

Under Operation Resort Mr. Nickles reported:

Welcome Breakfast is going well.

Removal of the wall at the front entrance is scheduled for June.

A logger should begin work very soon to remove trees from the golf course.

Plans for the Souvenir Shop are moving forward.

The Corps has denied a request for a swimming area at the marina.


The next Regular Meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at 3:00 p.m.

17-33 There being no further business to bring before the Board, a motion was made by Rose Shurts, seconded by Terri Hargrove, and unanimously carried to adjourn.
