FAIRFIELD BAY COMMUNITY CLUB

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

DECEMBER 5, 2018

 

            A regular meeting of the Fairfield Bay Community Board of Directors was held on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the Fireside Room at the Indian Hills Complex.

Directors attending: President Dave Foster, Bill Fisher, Doug Forsman, Nancy Mueller, Rose Shurts, Jack Weeks, and Tom Welch.

Rocky Nickles, General Manager, and Martha McDoniel, Chief Financial Officer, were also in attendance.

President Foster call the meeting to order and led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance. A prayer was given by Doug Forsman.

There was one manager and one guest in attendance.

18-111 Motion was made by Rose Shurts, seconded by Nancy Mueller, and unanimously carried to accept the regular meeting minutes of October 23, 2018, as presented.

18-112 Motion was made by Jack Weeks, seconded by Bill Fisher, and unanimously carried to accept the regular meeting minutes of October 30, 2018, as presented.

Martha McDoniel, Chief Financial Officer, gave the financial report.

Mr. Nickles gave the General Manager’s Report. All Manager Reports had previously been sent to the Board.

Mr. Nickles informed the Board an impact study will be completed in January 2019 concerning the increase to minimum wages over the next three years.

There were no contacts by owners to any board member.

There was no report for Team 2035.

Mr. Nickles reported there is a delay in opening the hotel. It is not a construction delay. The delay is in completing the hiring of a management team. Mr. Nickles stated the Conference Center staff has been successful in booking conferences for 2019, 2020, and 2021.

The Bowling Alley will end the year with a $10,000 loss. The Recreation Department is looking for ways to bring in more revenue for 2019.

The fiber optic loop to be completed by Skyfinet will be a secure closed loop, and will provide high speed to all Club operations. It will make checking out at the Marina much faster. Work will begin in January 2019, with the loop to be completed by end of May, and the telephone system to be installed before September 2019.

Mr. Nickles reported there is an opportunity to obtain a bill board on Highway 65 located near the sale barn in Clinton. He feels this is a good opportunity to point people to the Bay. The bill board is currently being leased by Wyndham.

Mr. Nickles advised the Board he is looking into changing the parking lot lights and the Little Red/Community Club building to LED lights. He said he spoke with Petit Jean Electric and there is a savings.

Mr. Nickles stated in 2019 the Club needs to look at new heating systems for the Little Red Restaurant/Community Club building to see what the savings would be. Mr. Welch stated we might want to get an energy audit of the building.

18-113 Motion was made by Jack Weeks, seconded by Bill Fisher, and unanimously carried to appoint Landmark (formerly Thomas and Thomas) as the 2019 independent auditors for the Club.

Bill Fisher stated John Conry, Marina Manager, has three pontoon boats he is removing from inventory. Due to their condition they will not be sold, and are being scrapped. Mr. Fisher stated the current fire boat is too small and the Fire Department would like to have one of the pontoons to convert to a fire boat. 18- Motion was made by Rose Shurts, seconded by Jack Weeks, to transfer a pontoon boat from the Club to the City of Fairfield Bay to be used as a fire boat. Voting for was: Bill Fisher, Nancy Mueller, Rose Shurts, Jack Weeks, and Tom Welch. Doug Forsman chose to abstain.

18-114 The next regular meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. in the Fireside Room.

18-115 There being no further business to bring before the Board, a motion to adjourn was made by Bill Fisher, seconded by Jack Weeks, and unanimously carried.
